NASHVILLE, TENN. – First impressions are hard, especially in music. Big Loud Records country artist Dallas Smith has done it as both a bona fide early 2000s rocker and an international country juggernaut whose success continues to surpass every expectation. Making another first impression today, announcing his first full-length project with Big Loud Records, Smith sets his self-titled fifth studio album for release on Oct. 27.

“I haven’t been this excited to release a big chunk of music in a long time,” Smith admits. “Artists talk about discovering who they are, and really, I don’t think I’m there yet. But I really felt confident people would fall in love with my first Canadian country record (2012’s Jumped Right In). And I’m feeling the same thing with this.”

After getting his start with platinum-selling rock band, Default, Smith went on to become one of the most successful Canadian country artists in history, exemplified in his 3x consecutive CCMA Entertainer of the Year status. Now, he’s bringing the alt-rock meets country fusion that’s become his signature to the States.

Smith enlisted acclaimed producer Joey Moi for his Big Loud Records debut – a project firmly rooted in Nashville for the first time in his career. This is Smith’s fifth collaboration with the award-winning producer, who produced all four of his previous albums. The pair have created a sound coursing with overdriven energy, topped with layers of Smith’s lean, edgy vocal – but also the calming confidence that comes with time. Other frequent collaborators and songwriting heavy-weights Smith lined up for his inaugural U.S. release include Ashley Gorley, Morgan Wallen, HARDY, Hillary Lindsey, ERNEST and Rodney Clawson.

The 12-song collection which has been years in the making includes previously released songs like the flirtatious “Singing In A Beer” and “One Too” (2022) featuring labelmate MacKenzie Porter, which cracked the Top 5 on Canada’s country chart.

Later this month, Smith will unveil more details about the anticipated fifth album, after a performance at the CCMAs in Toronto on Sept. 16.
